Grateful Alum Remembers His Bellarmine Experience

Bill and Mari Albanese

Bill and Mari Albanese

One of the many lives that has been positively impacted by the Bellarmine experience is that of Bill Albanese '61. Bill resolutely believes his Jesuit education at Bellarmine provided him with the skills, opportunities and guidance he needed to achieve all the successes he has had in the business world and in his spiritual life. He is the person he is today due to Bellarmine's influence upon him.

Many in the Bellarmine family recognize the Albanese name, which has been synonymous with giving back. It was Bill's parents, Carmen and Ethyl Albanese, who founded the Central Concrete Company and whose cement silos are visible from the football field across the railroad tracks.

Bill, a member of the Board of Regents since 1998, and his wife, Mari, have been helping the school in so many ways since the late 1970s. Most of their giving has been directed toward keeping necessary tuition increases reasonable as they firmly believe that Bellarmine should be accessible for those who cannot afford the entire cost of tuition.

Now, Mari and Bill are helping Bellarmine by naming the school as the beneficiary of their 401K and IRA pension plans.

"Investing for one's own future is important," Bill says, "but we have been blessed and no longer need to rely on these investments to take care of our and our family's future. It makes perfect sense to give back to my alma mater."

We are grateful to Bill and Mari Albanese for their many years of generous support as well as for their planned gift to help ensure the good work of Bellarmine continues and thrives.
